The fourth of Burzum's albums is in my opinion the best one. Musically, it's a perfect mix between the Black Metal orientation of the beginning and the keyboard atmospheric music of the last two albums. When you listen titles like "Dunkelheit" or "Jesus' Tod" (which is the best song of Burzum's discography), the melodies will stay in your head all the day, you cannot forget them, it's a little bit like the power of nordic incantations (Galdr). The only weakness results in the two last songs which are superfluous. The track that has a lenght of 25 minutes is quite boring after 5 minutes. This one is really in the vein of "Daudi Baldrs" and "Hlidskjalf", but far worse. Unlike the two last cds of Varg Vikernes which are fullfilled by a majestic atmosphere, the keyboards of this song lack of emotion. The final track is more a bonus track, because it's another version of the fourth track of the cd.
In conclusion, this album is great, even if the two last songs aren't interesting... but nobody oblige you to listen to them!
