Dimmu Borgir

Reviewed by the Wanderer

The second effort by these nowadays loved/hated norwegians was a step further in their brand of atmospheric, melancholic, melodic, mid-paced black metal. "Stormblast" was along the same lines as "For All Tid" but more mature, well played and with a clearer but yet and still underground sound. The songs being relatively simple in structure and technique, but very melancholic, atmospheric and dark, with a very important role attributed to the keyboards. Excellent album.
